Wow what a phenomenal dinner. We came here to celebrate our anniversary. The experience was top notch from start to finish. Granted they do have 1 Michelin Star. The spirits list was extensive - so many Japanese whiskeys to choose from! The service was very attentive. Every dish was delicious! The presentation was beautiful. We loved the corn tortellini appetizer with black perigold truffles. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was fun to watch them cook at the counter seats. The broccolini side was one of the better ones I've had recently. I'm not a huge fan of risotto and the staff was so sweet after noticing I didn't eat it. As a kind gesture l, they brought out a whole buffet of ice creams for dessert which was totally not necessary but so fun! Dining at Niku Steakhouse was such a fun experience. I took Darian here for his birthday this year and made a special request at reservation to personalize the menu with a Happy Birthday Darian message. I had seen this done before, so the accommodation was so wonderful. We started the evening off with drinks at the bar since we arrived early for our reservation. They ended up bringing the drinks for us to our table when it was ready for us. I ordered a few starters including oysters, bone marrow, and wagyu meat balls. And for my entree I opted for the short rib. It was actually a lot of food. And the rib eye was very rich. I left feeling stuffed. Something unique they do is allow you to choose your knife! Added another personal touch to the experience. Would love to come back again!

Overall, pretty solid spot for a fancier dinner. Walked in with a large group right when it opened so we can get the seating at the bar. We shared a bunch of appetizers and sides, and they were all really solid. We did the mushrooms, asparagus, potato's, pull apart bread, steak tartar and bone marrow. The sliced potatoes and steak tartare were probably my favorites. The potatoes were sliced thinly and lightly crispy, and the tartar was on the meatier side. We ended up sharing one tomahawk steak between five people and it was perfect amount of food. We also did a few desserts at the end to share including the lemon posset, black sesame and cheesecake

What can I say but it was amazing. I have only had such good A5 wagyu in japan. Niku did not disappoint. That said, it is very, very expensive so I would only come for a celebration. I have never tasted such juicy jerky and if you think a3 is good, jsut wait for a5 :) The service was amazing, the staff was very empathetic to our indecisiveness and even offered suggestions that ended up the best choice for us. The place is definitely fancy, but accommodates more casual experiences for those who don't care for suit and tie :)

We had a wonderful celebration at Niku filled with very unique and delicious cocktails, and steaks cooked to perfection, not to mention the A+ seating we had at the bar where we got to see all the action! TIP: try to get bar seating! We arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait ~10 mins, so we ordered drinks at the bar. The cocktail menu is divided into two sections and of course I went for the spirit forward section :) I love spirit forward cocktails so had the kawagoe old fasioned (eagle rare bourbon, cognac, maple, star anise) and the mr. bob harris (suntory toki, scotch, genmai-cha, amontillado). the cocktails were $21 each. we also tried the lavendar blue (basil hayden, grapefruit, lavender honey, yuzu) which was super refreshing As for food, we really came for the crispy potato and ended up getting a whole spread consisting of: - crispy pig ears ($19) which I highly recommend. I've had a lot of pig ears in my life so far and these were crispy and crunchy yet chewy and sweet and salty and absolutely amazing - 44 farms prime ribeye ($120) which I think is the best bang for your buck here, cooked to perfection, we got medium rare - tasting of a3 / a4 ($265) now that is pretty steep, we did it because it was my first time visiting and we were celebrating a life milestone, so it was worth the celebration! - buckwheat parker house rolls w/ cultured butter ($12) sooooooo yummy, must order - dungeness crab rice w/ salsa macha xo ($22) very very yummy - crispy potato wagyu fat, chickpea miso ($18) now this was how I learned about Niku, and it definitely lived up to the hype! must get! Our meal was kicked off with a bite of avocado toast (divine!!) and ended with a little cream puff (i think?). Both phenomenal. The very elevated avocado toast might have been the highlight of our meal :P
